Get to know about Epoxy Resins
Epoxy resins are a class of polymers, containing reactive groups which are converted to thermoset resins by reaction with curing agents. It is the choice of curing agent which generally exerts the most influence on the final properties of the cured products.
Properly cured epoxy resins exhibit a number of highly desirable properties, probably unequalled in any other single class of polymer and these properties are responsible for the versatility of epoxies and for the diverse applications in which they have been successfully used. These properties can be summarized as follows:-
- Outstanding chemical resistance
- Low shrinkage or curing
- Excellent adhesion to a wide variety if substrates
- High mechanical strength
- Good electrical insulating properties
General Features :
- Has clean surface, Prevents dusts, Resists molds and bacterial.
- Has no joints.
- Protects the concrete layer from damages causes by corrosion from oils, acids, alkaline substances and a variety of chemical.
In case of exterior applications, polyurethane should be used as a covering because there will be no discoloration arising from being exposed to ultraviolet lights
